Description: Exceptional Renaissance Revival rosewood Victorian center
table. The stunning design of the top features intricate inlay using motifs
of herons, masks, leaves, acorns, cattails, musical instruments, ribbons and
a sheaf of arrows. This is set into a background of numerous lovely light
and dark burls. The result is a profusion of vibrant color and beauty.
There are a few very slight separations in the top. This top is all framed
by a intricate band of brass molding. There is a gilt incised carved shield
on the four sides of the skirt. The two broader sides feature a bronze
plaque while the two ends have a painted porcelain plaques (probably Sevres). These
are all encased with a fancy brass border. There is also a brass border
along the bottom edge of the skirt. The skirt, legs and base stretcher all
are decorated with bands of satinwood inlay along with original gilt incised
carvings. An elegant fluted carved finial sits in the middle of the bottom
stretcher. The table has the original brass cap castors. With porcelain
and bronze plaques, great quality and styling, brass trim and vibrant
detailed inlay, this table has it all!
