Description: Rare walnut Victorian recamier with heavily carved crest and
most unusual base with an eagle holding an American shield. This piece was
made to commemorate the American Centennial in 1876. We have only had one
other similar to it about 10 years ago. The fabric is old but useable. The
back is a tad loose and should be tightened up when it is reupholstered in
the future. There are a few small nicks in the wood consistent with it's
age and normal usage. A wonderful and unique piece of American Victorian
furniture!
