Description: Walnut Victorian side chair made by George Hunzinger, NY. It
is signed on the back and dated 1869 (see photo). The identical chair is
shown on page 99 of "Styles of American Furniture" by Eileen and Richard
Dubrow. We believe that two of the horizontal curved back supports have
been professionally restored on each side of the oval panel. The chair is
constructed of a number of intricate bamboo shaped turnings along with
applied carved buttons. It appears to never having been reupholstered. A
great example of one of the fancier designs by one of America's premier
Victorian period furniture innovators!
