Description: Laminated rosewood Rococo Victorian sidechair in the Tuthill
King pattern made by John Henry Belter, NYC. This chair has a "C" and "S"
scrolled frame with extensive open carved flowers, fruit, grapes and leaves.
The cabriole front legs end in original brass castors. The similar chair is
shown on page 101 of "American Furniture of the 19th Century" by Eileen and
Richard Dubrow. The Tuthill king pattern is one of the most desirable
of those that Belter made. It has old fabric on the seat and back. This
chair is in the wonderful untouched original condition that serious
collectors covet!
