Description: Gorgeous Burled Walnut High Style Victorian Eastlake Sideboard with
a very ornate and unusual arched top gallery. The top is beautifully carved with leaves
and flowers, incised rosettes with ball centers, openwork on the sides, fancy turnings,
beautiful top cresting above the arched, and a burled pediment. There are hanging finials and
carvings from the shelf with more pretty carvings around the perimeter of the original
mirror (very slight loss to the silvering). The corresponding columns and rosettes complete
the base of the gallery. The large brown original marble surface is in fine original condition
with one chip on the far back left that is covered when the gallery top is in place.
The base provides lots of storage with three small drawers and three cupboards. They all
have the original brass hardware and a working key to lock the doors. There is more dynamic
burl on the drawer fronts and floral rosettes. This large functional piece is a fine example
of Victorian craftsmanship of the period.
