Description: Fabulous Renaissance Revival walnut Victorian huntboard with an original white marble top. The top features a wonderful three dimensionally carved elk head with wooden antlers and fruit. The top has been cut in back of the crest - some portion extended up a bit in back originally but this is not apparent when looking at the piece. There are two shaped shelves on either side of the mirror. The base has three drawers on top with tear drop pulls and two cupboard doors beneath. The right drawer is fitted for silverware. The doors have intricate carved fowl and game on the fronts. There is a shelf (one replaced) in each cupboard. The entire top and base are decorated with raised and inset burled panels. The underside of the marble is signed "Burpee Rockland ME." That could be either the maker of the sideboard or the person it was made for.
