Description: Great all original solid mahogany partners desk attributed to R. J. Horner, New York. This piece has a full figured standing winged griffin base typical of the Horner workshop. Each griffin has well defined carved wings, open mouth, and a tail that curls up between the front and back feet. They sit on a platform base with a carved edge. The front and back of the desk are identical with a center drawer, two drawers on the right side and two false drawers on the left. The drawers have intricately carved fronts and ornate pulls. The sides are also beautifully carved. The top and a carved edge and curves out in the front on both sides. There are a few light spots on the top where the finish has worn. This is the "right" model that collectors are looking for. It is in very good original condition with no replaced wings or carvings!
