Description: Fantastic solid mahogany flat top partner's desk attributed to R.J. Horner, NYC. The thick surface has an intricately carved edge and squared off corners that protrude on each end. We have a glass that was made to fit this surface (not shown in photo). There is a band of carving surrounding the entire desk below the top. The front of the desk has four drawers on each side and one long one in the middle - each with an lovely carved front with a lion head pull. The sides of the desk feature four carved woman's torsos with a band of fruit below the belly and delicately carved hairy ball in claw feet. Both the back and front of the desk are identical. The sides of the desk have recessed double panels with a deep molding around each. The skirt has a thick carved molding. Horner made the finest carved furniture of this period and this is one of the best examples! It is in the untouched original condition that collectors prize!
