Description: Magnificent Victorian walnut two part lectern from the Church of the Ascension
located at Fifth Avenue and Tenth Street in New York City's historic
Greenwich Village. The top is a fully carved eagle with the adjustable
lectern on his back. The eagle is beautifully carved with amazing detail.
Note the ruffled body, intricately carved talons and facial features. This
was presented in memory of Gregory Thurston Bedell - shown in a brass inset
plaque. Bedell was the pastor of the church from 1843-1859. Further
