Description: Great solid mahogany carved Victorian library table or writing desk in fine original finish with rich vibrant patina. The top has a carved edge and some normal wear (shallow scratches). The curved skirt is wonderfully carved and features a drawer on one side with a carved head in the center of each of the four sides. The four corners have beautiful fruit carvings. The ornate base has four bare chested women with wings holding up the top. The thick sides are intricately open carved with a wreath of detailed fruit and leaves. The double sided bottom is also wonderfully carved. This was likely made by R.J. Horner, NYC but since we have never seen these identical carvings on a signed piece we can't make a definite attribution (perhaps it was a custom order). The carvings on this exceptional quality table are very sharp and especially well executed!
