Description: Gorgeous signed Handel table lamp with an extra large Pine Tree overlay shade and Oak Leaf base. A nearly identical shade is shown on page 92 of "The Painted Lamps of Handel" by Joanne C. Grant. The lamp has the same heat cap as shown on in Figure 53 on page 54. It has four Hubbell sockets as shown in figure 59 on page 55. The pulls are all the acorn drops figure 63 on page 56. Similar shades are shown on pages 85, 88 and 89 of "Metal Overlays by Handel" by Robert Defalco. The sunset glass has numerous colored tones to it. The panels are held together by metal tabs (see photos). The forest scenes are painted in reverse. The bottom part of the shade is overlaid with pine needles. We could not find any reference for the oak leaf base and presume it to be a rather rare form. Both the inside of the shade and bottom of the base are signed (see photos). This is one of the better and larger overlay lamps that Handel made!
