Description: Rare Victorian Renaissance Revival Walnut Tall Chest that is a true "gent's chest" with a lift up adjustable mirror for shaving. It has pronounced cookie corners and a beveled edge around the top surface with original ebony highlights. The mirror is on two brass hinges and on the left side there is a drop down support that sits into a groove. The mirror can be propped at various angles and there are several small old surface marks in keeping with normal use. The chest has two boldly turned side stiles with burl and reeded posts decorated with more ebony highlights. It also has an unusual drawer configuration with four small drawers over four larger drawers with old teardrop pulls (two pulls are slightly different). Notice the unusual pullout surface, burl on the drawer fronts with delicate carvings, and recessed picture framed side panels. EVERY drawer bottom is signed my the maker "Manufactured by Doe & Hunnewell Boston Mass."
