Description: Gorgeous rosewood Rococo Victorian etagere attributed to J. & J. Meeks, NYC. A nearly identical piece is shown on page 144 in "American Furniture of the 19th Century" by Eileen and Richard Dubrow. It features an open carved crest and very elaborately carved drops. The graduated top shelves are held up by turned spindles. Beautiful floral carvings adorn the front legs and some of the open skirt carvings. There are three original mirrors in both the top and bottom. Notice the lovely rosewood grain on the surface of this piece! The top crest and several of the open carvings had been restored. This is an important and rare etagere made by one of the Victorian periods finest furniture makers!
