Description: Choice rosewood Rococo Victorian New York City made cylinder
secretary. The top section has a cupboard with mirrored doors and
carvings. The satinwood interior has an adjustable shelf with rosewood
front. When the barrel cylinder is rolled up a lovely four drawer three
cubby is exposed. Notice the contrast between the light satin wood and
darker rosewood accents in the interior. There are some slots on the right
side of the pullout writing surface. There is an old, probably original red
felt on the surface (some wear on this - it could easily be replaced if
desired). This surface has the added feature of being hinged and lifted up
to be able to write on a slant. The outside of the desk has rope twist
carvings on the sides. The base has two drawers with delicately carved
fronts. The lower drawer is deeper than the front would suggest. There are
cabriole legs on the front and back. A very special Victorian
secretary!
