Description: Formal early Rococo rosewood Victorian drop front desk. There
is a fancy open carved gallery on top with finials on the corners. The
drawer above the desk lid features an ornate mother-of-pearl key escutcheon.
The lid has intricate applied carvings and a shaped glass with carved edge.
A pleated fabric is on the inside of the glass. When the lid is opened a
gorgeous satinwood interior is revealed with cubbies, five drawers, fancy
fretwork and a mirror in the middle. The desk appears to have the original
oil cloth writing surface. The skirt, stretcher and sides of the cabinet
are open carved. A stylish desk for the period!
