Description: Exceptional Aesthetic period Victorian walnut matching dresser and half commode. These pieces are of the finest quality. The dresser has a thick beveled mirror top with carved sides and top with finials on either side. There are two jewelry boxes on either side of the mirror bottom with a drawer in each. Notice the intricate carving on the edge of the top! The base has four graduated drawers with the top one having dividers. Each of the drawers has fabulous original cast brass hardware. There is carving on the bottom drawer. The sides and front of both the dresser bottom and half commode feature book matched burled drawer fronts and panels. Even the back of the half commode is finished off with all the detail incorporated into the front and sides. Both pieces rest on lovely carved feet in both the front and back. These pieces are extremely solid and heavy - unlike any furniture made today. The secondary wood is primarily solid cherry while oak and walnut was used for the back of the dresser. We believe these pieces were made in Philadelphia, possibly by Henri LeJambre, but they are not signed.
