Description: Elegant turn-of-the-century quartered oak grandfather clock. The top has a broken arch with three delicately turned finials. The sides of the hood are pierce carved so that the sound can reverberate out. Notice the fancy turned columns on each side of the hood. The case is decorated with applied carvings, a beveled glass door in the middle, and rope turnings on the sides. The silver dial is very ornate with an elaborate gold border. It is signed "J.E. Caldwell and Co, Philadelphia." The moon dial has been repainted. The three weight movement plays chimes gongs each quarter hour and strikes the hour. It is in fine working condition. Notice the brass pendulum bob. It has a moon face on it and is very heavy. This clock has it's original rich dark patina. You can see the great tiger oak grain under the finish.
