Description: Gorgeous late Victorian walnut corner cabinet made
by Paine Furniture Co, Boston. It has a fancy gallery made with a number of
turned spindles and four carved posts with ball finials on top. Below the
gallery is a deeply carved molding and a lovely band of incised carved burl.
Original beveled glass is in the door and both sides of the top. There are
four original wooden adjustable shelves. The center drawer in the base has
a burled front with original ring pulls and a silver ware holder in the
interior. There are three deeply recessed incised carved burled panels in
the base with a flower carved in each corner of the door. There is a single
shelf in the base. Three wonderful original brass keys came with this
piece. Each is signed "Paine's" on one side and "Furniture" on the other.
They are custom made for each of the three locks. We have never seen one of
these company keys before - a really neat feature! We very seldom find
china cabinets in walnut. A rare and handsome model!
