Description: Magnificent solid quartered oak china closet made by either
Grand Rapids Furniture Co or R. J. Horner, NY. The heavily carved back
splash has a gargoyle at each end. Notice the graduated layered top - a
sure sign of quality! The hooded top is supported by two women, each
carrying a basket. There is a beveled glass mirror (some normal silver
loss) behind the hood. The front of the cabinet is carved and has an
original serpentine glass front door and bowed glass sides. There are four
original oak shelves with plate grooves and an original mirrored back (some
mirrors have silver loss). There is carving at the base. Hooded china
closets like this are hard to find. The figural motif on this one is most
unusual!
