Description: Four door carved cherry bookcase with a wonderful open carved crest in the middle and an original brass gallery over each side section. The two taller side sections have carvings in the top corners of the doors and rope twist columns on the sides. (The original glass in the left section has a crack in the very top. We wanted to keep the original glass but this could easily be replaced with a new piece of glass if so desired.) There are interesting carvings on the tops of each section and the two middle drawers. There are three adjustable original shelves. The shelves and back of the bookcase are made of oak. (There are two age splits in the back of the bookcase - these do not affect the structure and are not visible when the bookcase is filled with books.) The three small brass knobs on the doors (see photo) are actually pulls/keys that can be used to open and lock the doors - very interesting arrangement. The drawers have very ornate cast brass pulls with Northwind faces. The bookcase has the original brass castors. This will store a large number of books in a very attractive way!
