Description: Matched pair of Victorian walnut two door bookcases by Moore &
Campion, Philadelphia (one has a nice label on the back - see photo). The
bookcases each feature a magnificent top gallery with three different
pairs of carved finials, fancy spindles, and raised burled panels. The two
doors have incised carvings in the corners, carved key escutcheons, and the
original wavey glass. The doors are flanked by full burled columns that
feature incised leaf carvings. We have two old keys that work the locks on
each bookcase. There is a step out base with two drawers with incised
carvings and two carved pulls on each drawer. There are three original
adjustable shelves with each bookcase. (A previous owner drilled some tiny
holes in the backs of the bookcases which do not show when books are in place)
Each unit sits on great quality original double
castors. These are superior quality bookcases in design, quality and
original condition, along with having the major attribute of the original
maker's label still intact.
