Description: Great matched pair of walnut Aesthetic style Victorian bookcases. The raised top section has a three leaf clover design and notch carvings. Below that is a band of recessed carvings, fluting and turned incised carved columns. There is a decorative fancy metal work that was used to simulate hinges on the doors and key escutcheons. The wooden shelves (some are replaced) are adjustable. One of the units has a drop front desk in the middle of the bookcase. The fancy interior has numerous cubbies and three drawers made out of a lovely contrasting birdseye maple. It has an original faded blue fabric writing surface. This could be replaced with leather or fabric for an additional fee. The outer lid of the desk and the raised panels on the side are burled. The sides of the cabinet have recessed panels. Note that the base on each has been cutout to accommodate a baseboard. These are of exceptional quality! It is very hard to find a large pair like these that match!
