Description: Handsome Two Piece Victorian Walnut Renaissance Revival Bedroom Suite consisting of a high back bed with large center burled medallion and a matching drop center chest. The bed is a show piece with an ornately scrolled crest with raised burl panels and rosettes around the center medallion. There are unusual and beautiful open carvings on each side that swag to the fancy incised side posts. The footboard is tall by usual standards and gracefully arched with more raised burl panels and a small, corresponding, center burled medallion. The fancy siderails are also all decorated with raised burl panels. The bed sets up very securely and has the original casters (which can be used, or not). The drop center chest has the matching scrolled crest, fancy carvings, burl, original three white marble tops, and the original long mirror. The candlecups on either side of the mirror are especially well done with turned incising on the posts and delicate finials with openwork on the backs (see photo). The drawers have raised burl, fine post and ebonized bar pulls, and a secret drawer in the bottom! This set has many beautiful and unusual features but most importantly it is in outstanding original finish and condition!
