Description: Great large bronze Victorian newel post lamp of a woman
holding a vase in one hand and the lamp in the other. It is signed "M in
Moreau Sc." We believe this piece was created by Mathurin Moreau
(1822-1912) from the famous Moreau Family of Dijon. He was one of the best
sculptors of his era and was "An expert at portraying feminine grace." Excerpt is from page
511, Bronzes of the 19th Century, by Pierre Kjellberg. It is in very good
original condition. Large newel post gas lamps are quite hard to find!
